Today, we share a captivating antique treasure—an authentic Shrimp Pink Plain Satin Silk Qipao produced in Mainland China during the early 1950s. This piece is a beautiful testament to a transitional era. Its main body is crafted from high-grade plain silk satin, radiating a gentle yet restrained "shrimp pink" luster. The fabric is smooth and luminous, exuding pure elegance.
However, the true soul of this Qipao lies in its delicate details. The collar, sleeves, and hem are all adorned with an exquisite coffee brown hand-sewn cord trim. This deep brown trimming acts like a rich, defining frame, perfectly outlining the Qipao's silhouette and elevating the gentle pink hue to one of composed nobility.
The most stunning feature, influenced by the Western aesthetic prevalent in Hong Kong and Taiwan at the time, is the highly fashionable hand-beading and sequin embroidery painstakingly sewn along the diagonal closure (Dajin). Silver, bronze, and wine-red sequins and beads elegantly twine into a floral pattern, shimmering brilliantly against the plain satin.
